Tactics Ogre [22 Nov 2010|10:01am]
I've been a fan of the Ogre series since I first rented Ogre Battle for the Super Nintendo from Blockbuster. The first game I actually purchased for myself was the PSOne remake. My first impulsive game buy that I sort of regretted (but then later stopped regretting) was Tactics Ogre.

TO is being remade for the PSP and coming out next year. I've just found out that any preorders come with this:

A set of Tarot cards with the illustrations on the Major Arcana that were used in Ogre Battle.

More games [17 Nov 2010|11:43am]
Day 23 - Game you think had the best graphics or art style: Suikoden V for art style. Falenans be stylin'.

Day 24 - Favorite classic game: XENOGEARS

Day 25 - A game you plan on playing: Dragon Age 2

Day 26 - Best voice acting: I did really like Final Fantasy XIII's voice acting.

Day 27 - Most epic scene ever: Xenosaga III's incredible half-hour ending cinematic.

[12 Nov 2010|11:20am]
Day 29 – Your aspirations: To learn, to love, to live comfortably, to improve myself, and to go out with people thinking well of me.

Day 22 - A game sequel which disappointed you: Xenosaga Episode II. Thankfully Episode III was amazing. But then they cancelled the series.

Day 28 – Something that you miss: College

Day 21 - Game with the best story: Xenogears (although it takes a couple of play-throughs to catch everything and get past the weird translation) with Final Fantasy Tactics as a close second.

Day 27 – Your favourite place: The shower

Day 20 - Favorite genre: RPG, natch.

Gulp gulp gulp [09 Nov 2010|09:09pm]
Soup. Soup from a chicken. A chicken lived and died. And they put it in water and now it's soup. It does not want anything or fear anything. It only is. It is soup. It sits in this bowl. This indifferent bowl. It does not want to hold soup nor does it want to be empty. It simply is. It is concave. And perfect for holding soup. Its weight rests on the table. Distributed evenly to four legs that press onto the floor, the foundation of this building, which holds all of us... and the table... and the soup. The building rests on the earth, the soil of this planet. It is held in place by gravity. The planet is held in orbit by the gravitational force of the sun. The beating heart at the center of a perfectly balanced solar system. One of several systems that make up our galaxy. Which is just one tiny part of an unimaginable cosmic expanse. The universe. Existence. All of creation supports this bowl. Which supports the soup. Which supports me. It gives me life. What do I do with the life it gives me?

The Elemental Council [09 Nov 2010|11:18am]
terra_firma and I have been writing scenes for the upcoming Legend of the Five Rings game. If you haven't read hers, yet, you really ought to.

Relevant links (many thanks to Tini for the assist!):
Asako Manami
Isawa Mikato
Isawa Nanashi
Isawa Seimei

I don't have anything for Kyouhakushiro or Wataru. Kyou's a young, chubby, slightly nervous guy. Wataru I imagine looks kind of like Lucius Malfoy.

Day 26 – Your fears: Remaining alone (not necessarily being alone), failure, not knowing something when others think I should.

Day 19 - Picture of a game setting you wish you lived in: The Queendom of Falena from Suikoden V.

Day 21 – Another moment: The look on his face as the mild-mannered ninety-pound sophomore knocked him on his ass was priceless.

Day 13 - A game you’ve played more than five times: Several, actually! Xenogears is probably in the double-digits by now. Suikoden II is somewhere around five. Though I think the very first game I played to death was Gemfire.

Day 20 – This month: Is two days old. However, I'm looking forward to SimTerra, Wednesgiving, Thanksgiving, and a Black Friday L5R tournament. I have my second exam today. My mother's birthday is in two weeks and I really ought to order her present soon.

Day 12 - A game everyone should play: Uhm, Xenogears. Also Suikoden.

WE ARE GOING TO GET THROUGH THIS [01 Nov 2010|12:40pm]
Day 17 – Your favourite memory: Seriously, meme? No one likes this question. I mean, how do you pick? I'm also pretty forgetful, so I think a really awesome memory that gets double-points for being recent was running Kyuden Hida with Audrey.

Day 18 – Your favourite birthday: I think it was '08? Marie put together a surprise party for me at Drew and Micha's house because she knew that I'd never had a one before.

Day 19 – Something you regret: I mentioned in my beliefs entry that the only way someone really fails is if they didn't learn anything from the experience. It's hard for me to truly regret something with that in mind. It's also hard for me to say I regret something unless it was my own fault and, not say, due to bad luck or happenstance. I do regret not applying myself to teaching more, though. I don't think, in the long run, that it would have changed my decision to step away from it, but it certainly would have helped me do so with a clearer conscience.

Day 9 - Saddest game scene: Gremio's death in Suikoden. It's a real tear-jerker.

Day 10 - Best gameplay: Final Fantasy Tactics. I'm a sucker for Job Systems with high customization options.

Day 11 - Gaming system of choice: PS3, sons.

Day 11 – Your siblings: Tracy Huggins is my eldest sister. She's eight years older than me, so by the time I was able to appreciate any kind of relationship with her, she was moving out and far away. She's married and the mother of one. Corrie is a year and a half older than me and was a little domineering growing up. Thankfully our relationship has greatly improved over time. She's currently engaged and going to get married early next year. Will's a year and a half younger than me. We were pretty inseparable growing up, but have since each kind of found our own social niche.

Day 13 – This week: On Sunday, terra_firma and I finished running a three-part L5R horror campaign for the Halloween season. Monday passed by blearily and uneventfully. Tonight, I have class. No concrete plans for the remainder of the week, but these things tend not to sort themselves out until Thursday, anyway.

Day 3 - A game that is underrated: XENOGEARS. Seriously, you'll see Xenogears a lot on this list.

Day 4 - Your guilty pleasure game: The first Xenosaga has a minigame that is a self-contained CCG. It is amazing. For a long time, it was my go-to form of amusement, but I lost the memory card that contained my save data. I really don't want to go through the whole game again just to be able to play it, sadly.

Day 5 - Game character you feel you are most like (or wish you were): Zweig. Scholar of an ancient civilization and general know-it-all smarty-pants. Perennially followed around by a hot brunette.

Meme post [22 Oct 2010|09:18am]
Me Day 10 – What you wore today: Glasses, a black button-up shirt with white stripes, khaki pants, black socks, black shoes.

VG Day 2 - Your favorite character: Kain Highwind from Final Fantasy IV. Superficially started out as that guy in the cool dragon armor that's left-handed like me. His chronic side-switching and motives made him a very interesting character. He got a cool side-story in the GBA update of the game, too. Since he's a confirmed character in Dissidea 2, I might finally find the motivation to get myself a PSP.

Day 09 – Your beliefs [21 Oct 2010|01:33pm]
I believe that everything exists for a reason. Not in the "I was put on this earth to do x" way, but rather that there are specific chains of events which have made the universe, the world, you, and I the way we are. Whether this is due to intelligent design, fate, or the power of science is less important to me. I personally believe that fate is the gearworks of existence and fortune is the collective ghosts in the machine. I believe in humility. I believe that Pliny the Elder was history's greatest hero. I believe in lessons in all things. I believe that there are degrees of success - you have only truly failed at something if you have learned nothing in its doing.

Days 7 and 8! [20 Oct 2010|11:10am]
So, I'm a little spotty on punctuality.

Your Best Friend: I couldn't possibly pick one. Blake, Tini, Kevin, and Audrey.

A Moment:

Windows Internet Explorer: Text not found.

My vision swims, and my gut is ice. All of the big decisions, preparation, heartbreak, and loss that I've been experiencing for the past several months are now invalidated.
